2025 HOT LAPS ENDURO RULEBOOK

Format

  • Registration & Timing:
    Racers must complete the assigned course in order. After completing the course, riders will “dip their chip” at the start gate to record their time.

  • Hot Laps:
    After the first run, riders are cleared to complete additional “Hot Laps” (up to 2 more per stage, 3 total timed runs per stage).

    • Best lap counts for overall time.

    • Slowest lap per stage is dropped.

    • Racers do not need to complete the course order for second or third laps.

    • Timing is turned off at 3:00 pm sharp. No exceptions.

Stage Wins/Podiums

  • Stage Sponsorship:
    Each stage is brand-sponsored.

  • Prize Raffle:
    Stage winners are entered into a raffle for the stage’s grand prize (Pros are excluded from the raffle).

  • Cash Payout for Pros:
    Top three pros receive a cash payout.

  • Awards:
    Awards for top three in all categories.

Categories

Age and Category Information
Your racing age is determined by your age on December 31, 2025.

  • U15

  • 16-18

  • 19-29

  • 30-39

  • 40-49

  • 50+

  • Open

Race Categories

  • Pro Categories – For top-level professional athletes with a Pro license or those competing at the highest level in the sport.

  • Expert Categories – For advanced riders, typically Cat 1 or highly experienced Cat 2 athletes, with strong technical skills and race experience.

  • Amateur Slalom – For riders at Cat 1-2 level, capable of handling high-speed turns, drops, and jumps in slalom events.

  • Sport Categories – For intermediate to lower-level riders, typically Cat 2-3, with some race experience and skill development needed.

  • Beginner Categories – For newcomers or entry-level riders, typically Cat 3, with minimal or no prior racing experience.

  • E-Bike Open – Open to riders of all skill levels, including beginners and advanced riders, who have e-bike experience. Riders must be able to safely navigate all stages.

Category Changes
Riders can change their category up until packet pickup. Please notify at check-in if you wish to change categories.Course Information

Course Release:

Courses are released on Monday or Tuesday before race weekend, available on the website and social media.

  • Course Changes:
    Race director may modify or cancel stages due to unforeseen circumstances (weather, injury, etc.).

E-Bike Racing

  • E-Bike Open:
    E-bikes race on the Pro/Expert course.

  • E-Bike Requirements:

    • Motor assists only when pedaling.

    • Motor max output: 630W.

    • Speed max 28 km/h before power cut-off.

    • No mid-race battery swapping.

Communication & Briefing

  • Mandatory Rider Briefing:
    Riders must attend the morning briefing for race details and updates.

Safety

  • Rider Down Protocol:
    Stop and assess a rider down on course. Call 911 or notify a marshal if necessary. Failure to assist a downed rider results in a ban.

  • Head Injury/Concussion:
    If assessed unfit, the rider is banned for the day and must submit a doctor's note to return within 10 days.

  • Helmet:
    Helmets must be worn at all times while riding (including transition stages).

  • Recommended Gear:
    Hydration pack, waterproof jacket, spare tube, multi-tool, first aid kit, food, and emergency contacts.

Course Markings

  • Course Tape:
    Riders must pass between the two tape gates. Crossing tape incorrectly or cutting course leads to disqualification.

  • Directional Arrows:
    Used for course transitions.

Rider Equipment

  • Self-Sufficiency:
    Riders must carry their own equipment and be self-sufficient.

    • Equipment Replacement: Riders can only replace broken gear with approval from the race director.

    • Unauthorized equipment replacement leads to disqualification.

Food/Water

  • Riders should bring 50 oz of water and snacks for the day. The aid station supplements, not replaces, personal supplies.

Call Ups & Seeding

  • Call Ups:
    Riders leave in waves by category. Call-up times will be released before the event.

  • Seeding:
    There are no individual start times for each stage; riders self-seed at the start of each stage.

Results

  • Best lap per stage counts toward overall time.

  • In case of a tie, the highest-placed rider from the final stage wins.

Environmental Rules

  • No Disposable Tear-offs:
    Disposable goggle tear-offs are prohibited.

  • No Trash:
    Do not leave food packaging or stash food on course.

  • Wildlife Protection:
    No food stashes to avoid impacting wildlife.

Rule Violations & Penalties

  • Course Cutting:
    Cutting the course results in disqualification. Unintentional cutting can lead to a time penalty (30 seconds).

  • Illegal Outside Assistance:
    Outside help not approved by the race director results in disqualification.

  • Environmental Disrespect:
    Disposing of tear-offs or creating food stashes results in penalties from 1 minute to disqualification.

  • Other Violations:

    • Missing number plate: 30 seconds penalty.

    • Unauthorized equipment change: Disqualification.

Refunds/Cancellations

  • Refund Policy:
    $50 refund fee if cancelled 30+ days before the event. No refunds within 30 days of the event.
